BEST BETS:

NEWCASTLE UNITED - TO HAVE 17+ SHOTS - 11/10 (LIVESCORE BET) - 1PT

JUSTIN KLUIVERT - TO HAVE 1+ SHOT ON TARGET - 1/1 (BETFAIR/PADDY POWER) - 1PT

Eddie Howe welcomes his former club Bournemouth to St. James' Park as Newcastle look to solidify themselves into the Premier League's top four. Their opponents head to Tyneside amidst an injury crisis with only one recognised fit striker. Newcastle head into this one off the back of nine straight victories in all competitions, whilst the Cherries are unbeaten in ten.

Without a run of two wins in eleven matches we could have been including Newcastle in the title race given the form that Eddie Howe's men find themselves in now. They are as short as 1/7 to make it into the final of the Carabao Cup for the second time in three seasons and will hope to continue this form to record a second top four finish in the same timeframe. Striker Alexander Isak is on a scoring run of eight straight matches, inching ever closer to Jamie Vardy's record of scoring in eleven straight league games. At a price of 5/6, I'd certainly not advise anyone backing against the Swede to make it nine consecutive games. I have been drawn to the 11/10 on offer for Newcastle to take 17+ shots in this one. The Magpies have taken 17 shots in nine of their last eleven, whilst their opponents have faced 17+ shots in six of their twelve games on the road this season. The two fixtures which Newcastle failed to take 17 shots in were against Chelsea (9) and Arsenal (8). When these two sides met at St. James' Park last season, the home side recorded 17 shots. Given the form that the Magpies are in, I am happy to take this price.

Attacking reinforcements are few and far between for Bournemouth currently with Evanilson and Enes Unal recently joining Marcus Tavernier, Luis Sinisterra & Alex Scott in the treatment room. This has led to Andoni Iraola deploying winger Dango Ouattara as a striker in their last two matches. This season's top scorer Justin Kluivert notched his seventh of the Premier League campaign from the spot in the Cherries' draw at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening, and I was surprised to see that he is priced up at 1/1 to have 1+ shot on target in this one. With the Dutchman having a heavy reliance on him due to the injury crisis that Bournemouth find themselves in and him recording a shot on target in 16 of his last 18 starts, I am happy to take the price on offer. Kluivert is averaging 2.84 shots per 90 this season and if this continues here, he should record a shot on target. He also takes penalties, giving this one an increased chance.
