CHELSEA VS AFC BOURNEMOUTH
Chelsea head into this one on the back of a winless Premier League run of four games, there opponents, Bournemouth, do enter this one unbeaten in ten matches in all competitions and will fancy getting something here and putting themselves level on points with the hosts and challenging for the Premier League top four.
The fixture between these sides earlier in the season broke the Premier League record for the most cards distributed in a single match with 14, and I feel that this fixture could produce a number of cards once again. Referee Robert Jones has averaged 4.78 cards per game over the last two seasons and with Bournemouth being involved (the side with the highest number of fouls committed in the league), I see him hitting this average.
One positive for Enzo Maresca's side will be the return of Reece James, after the full back made a return in the Blues' FA Cup demolition of Morecambe at the weekend. Maresca has stated that James is ready to regain a starting place in the Chelsea squad, and I'm hoping he does so here. The price on him to pick up a card is a generous 5.50 and given his previous record, this should be around 4.00, so I am happy to take advantage. Due to James' injury record, I have been cautious with the stakes here.
Another player who is overpriced within the markets is Justin Kluivert, the Bournemouth man has committed 2.15 fouls per 90 this season and has earned 11 yellow cards since the start of the last campaign. Kluivert committed 4 fouls against Chelsea in the reverse fixture and was subsequently carded.
WEST HAM UNITED VS FULHAM
The Graham Potter era began with an FA Cup exit on Friday evening when Aston Villa dispatched West Ham, and their injury woes in the attacking department were only worsened by both Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville being withdrawn early on. For their opponents Fulham, it was a comfortable 4-1 victory against Championship side Watford on Thursday evening, giving them plenty of time to prepare for this one.
Whilst it will be difficult to understand what Graham Potter's usual line-up looks currently, I am hopeful that he will pack the midfield here, owing to their crisis in attacking areas. I am confident that at least one of Edson Alvarez or Guido Rodriguez will start in central midfield for the Hammers, despite the recent transfer interest in the former. Both of these players are overpriced within the cards market given their previous record. Alvarez has been carded 25 times since the start of last season, and the 3.30 on offer is something I am happy to get stuck into. Whilst Rodriguez is priced at 4.00 to pick up a card on Tuesday evening, with 14 cards coming his way across the last two seasons in just 3,176 minutes. Both of these players were carded in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, so I am happy to cover both of these here.
