ASTON VILLA VS WEST HAM UNITED
Graham Potter takes charge of his West Ham United side just 48 hours after being appointed as the club's new manager. He will not have the luxury of making a mark on his squad prior to this FA Cup tie and his preferred lineup will still be up in the air. With seven matches on the horizon in just 22 days, it's inevitable that Unai Emery will rotate his squad here. I can see this being an open game with the weight being off this West Ham side now that Julien Lopetegui has departed and this could lead to the game becoming stretched.
Given the news surrounding Edson Alvarez's potential move to Monaco, I'd imagine there will be a place for Guido Rodriguez over the Mexican in the squad. The Argentinian has been carded 14 times since the start of last season and is averaging 1.56 fouls committed per 90 this season - including two fouls against Aston Villa in the Premier League on his West Ham debut. Rodriguez is yet to return to the West Ham side following his suspension for accumulating five yellow cards in the first half of the season, and this will be the perfect opportunity to reintroduce him.
Tomorrow night's referee, Tim Robinson is averaging 4.30 cards per match in the last two seasons and dished out seven cards in his only cup fixture this season, so I can see him not being opposed to dipping into this pocket should he feel necessary here.
RAYO VALLECANO VS CELTA VIGO
La Liga returns from it's winter break on Friday evening with Rayo Vallecano hosting Celta Vigo. Both of these sides come into this one in good form and both safely booked their spots in the next round of the Copa del Rey last weekend. A win for either side here will see them go seventh in the La Liga table, albeit temporarily ahead of the weekend's action. There is a slightly reduced number of matches in La Liga this weekend, due to the Spanish Super Cup taking place in Saudi Arabia as well.
The price of Unai Lopez to pick up a card immediately jumped out at me for this one. Lopez was carded in both of his starts against Celta Vigo last season and has picked up 15 yellow cards in just 3,177 minutes since the start of the last campaign. Lopez has only completed 90 minutes twice this season, so there is the chance he will be subbed off. However, I feel he could get the job done early on here. Referee Guillermo Cuadra is averaging 5.43 cards per match in the last two seasons and I feel that Unai Lopez will do enough to get his attention. Lopez should be priced up at around 3.35 and therefore I am happy to get stuck in on the 4.30 on offer.
