BEST BETS:

SEAN WHALLEY - TO HAVE 1+ SHOT ON TARGET FROM OUTSIDE THE AREA - 3/1 (SKY BET) - 0.5PTS

Saturday lunchtime sees John Doolan take his Accrington Stanley side to Anfield in the FA Cup Third Round. Doolan, born in Liverpool, has had spells working in both the Liverpool and Everton academy setups - he even recalls a story of a young Trent Alexander-Arnold playing as a striker in his younger years. The seismic task that awaits Accrington is clear for all to see. However, that has not stopped Doolan revealing that they have a plan to stifle Liverpool's talisman Mo Salah - however, I'd imagine I have as much chance of featuring in this one as the Egyptian does. Arne Slot will undoubtedly use this as a chance to rotate his Liverpool side ahead of two Premier League fixtures next week.

Given the clear gulf in class between these two sides, any form of value is thin on the ground, with almost the entire Liverpool squad a shorter price to score than any Accrington player. Whilst both of these sides have bigger priorities than this fixture, it will be a once in a lifetime experience for some of these Accrington players, and I am sure they will want to make their mark. Should there be any threat towards the Liverpool goal, this is likely to come from veteran Shaun Whalley, the 37 year-old is Accrington's top scorer this season - albeit with six goals. Whalley isn't afraid to get a shot away and should Accrington pose any threat going forwards, this could be restricted to efforts from outside of the area - something that Whalley is no stranger to. He has taken 45 shots for Accrington so far this season, with over half of these coming from outside the area. Given the chances of Accy having any sustained pressure in and around the Liverpool penalty being very low, I am happy to have a small play on Whalley to have a shot on target from outside the area at 3/1. Should he find any space in behind what is likely to be a very young and inexperience Liverpool midfield, I think he will waste no time in getting a shot away.
