Celtic have opened up a sixteen point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership over arch rivals Rangers, and are just three wins away from securing a thirteenth league title in fourteen seasons. They will fancy their chances of getting the better of Rangers on home soil, especially given the exploits of the Gers in the Europa League on Thursday evening. They squandered a two-goal aggregate lead at home to Fenerbahce, but later progressed on penalties. Given the struggles of Rangers domestically, you can forgive them should they choose to prioritise their European ties ahead of any Scottish Premiership matches. Despite the edge being taken off this one due to the gap in points between the sides, it is still the Old Firm, and has the potential to boil over at any instance.
The sides last met at the turn of the year, with Rangers comprehensively dispatching their cross-city rivals by three goals to nil at Ibrox. I enjoyed great success on that occasion in backing Old Firm veteran Callum McGregor to be carded, with the Celtic captain having picked up six cards in his last nine Old Firm matches prior to that one. His record now sits at seven cards from his last ten appearances against Rangers, and I was surprised to see 9/2 on offer for him to continue that run. On that occasion I paired him with Jefte to be carded, the Brazilian has been carded in all three of his Old Firm starts, and I am happy to take a punt on them both once again. It's 15/1 for them to both pick up a card, and given their respective records in these matches, I will have a small punt on the double as well.
