Aston Villa held league leaders Liverpool to a draw on Wednesday evening at Villa Park, a result that leaves them some way off the Champions League spots in the Premier League, despite having played one game more. They are however, in better form than their opponents Chelsea, and will look to move to within a point of their sixth placed opponents. Chelsea have benefitted from eight days between this fixture and their last, and will have needed it considering their 'no-show' on the South Coast last Friday evening, at Brighton where they lost 3-0.
Villa come into this one unbeaten in their last thirteen Premier League games, and up against a Chelsea side who have failed to win their last five league away matches, I am happy to get them onside in the Asian Handicap market. We require a Villa win for this selection, but the selection will be void should they avoid defeat. Chelsea's last away win was 8th December at Tottenham where they were fortuitous to come from 2-0 down to beat them. They've only won two of their last nine league matches, and against an Aston Villa side who have only lost two of their last ten, it's hard to see the Blues bouncing back to form. The 3/1 on offer for Villa -1 on the Asian Handicap lines looks generous. Should Chelsea produce a similar performance to that of their last away match, this could be a comprehensive win for the home side, and providing they at least win the match, we'll get a refund on this selection.
I am keen to get a former winning selection on side once again. Morgan Rogers has picked up ten yellow cards this season, and is the Villains' most carded player this campaign. Given the card record of Rogers, he should be priced at around 3/1, so am shocked to see that there is still 5/1 on offer. He was also carded in this fixture last season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that happy here again.
